Klout Score: Coming Clean About my Number
So, now you all know. 15. That is my number. My Klout score. How embarrassing!
During our Continuing Ed class at Stanford, we had a very lively discussion about Klout scores. Should they matter? Are we placing to much emphasis on an algorithm the public doesn’t even know about?
Well whether we like it our not, Klout scores are factoring in from everything from job interviews to hotel reservations. They are forecasted to determine whether or not you get to board the plane before everyone or at the back of the line, according to this Wired article.
So, at a dismal 15 and looking for a job in social media- this is obviously not going to work out. So, as of today I’m setting incremental goals for increasing my Klout score to 55 by the end of 2012. And no, I’m not going to post a bunch of cat photos (oh, wait I already do that) or links to “Beibs” videos. Real original content you’ll want to read, share, like, follow and comment on.
If I can grow my Klout score from 15 to 55 in 2 1/2 months, what can I do for a company? Get ready dream job at cool and socially responsible company- I’m coming for you. 😉
